ANNUAL REPORT NEWSLETTER
BEGINS 16TH YEAR

KALAMAZOO, Mich., Sept. 1.—A narrow-focus publication that monitors doings worldwide in an esoteric field—annual reports to shareholders—has achieved a milestone:

With the September issue, Sid Cato's Newsletter on Annual Reports begins its 16th year: one hundred eighty-one issues concerning this key corporate communiqué.

Sid Cato, its founder and editor, annually picks the world's 10 best and 10 worst reports for Chief Executive. He noted that "as of this fall, 150 annuals will have been named to the list of world's best reports, every CEO gleeful at the honor."

"One hundred fifty others will have been named to the list of world's worst, none happy. Some," he said, "beg for an explanation…while others have surrogates send letters impugning my motives, if not my parentage."

Cato said "It continues to be a great run." He praised the "men and women around the world I do business with…uniformly admirable, dedicated professionals whose integrity and best efforts sometimes, sadly, aren't enough to overcome corporate inertia—or worse."

Cato's annual article in the magazine for corporate chieftains appears in the November issue. He said that, "Increasingly, it becomes harder to find 10 truly venal companies, truly egregious behavior."
