KALAMAZOO, Oct. 1, 2001.Celebrating the beginning of Year No. 19 for his monthly Newsletter on Annual Reports, founder/editor Sid Cato anticipated "an international celebration"at Baltimore, Maryland, birthplace 177 years ago of the annual report to shareholders.
Instead, because of the terrorist attacks in the East, Cato was forced to postpone his conference until Sept. 11-13, 2002, at Chicago’s Omni Hotel. It will assume the mantle14th annual International Annual Report Conferenceinitially assigned the recently scuttled event. Cato had his "largest crowd ever" registered for Baltimore90 persons, including registrants from Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and South Africa. The October issue of his newsletter, No. 218, presents reaction to the East Coast attack from some of those scheduled to attend his conferenceincluding a note of encouragement sent President Bush by the registrant from South Africa. Cato said his research indicates Baltimore Gas and Electric introduced the world's first annual report in 1823. |
